Unofficial Errata Advantage: Pirate Trick
This Advantage is essentially unchanged, except for the fact that a Rogers Swordsman can take this Advantage in addition to his School. The Advantage cannot be taken more than once. Characters may choose from the following new Pirate Tricks in addition to those listed in Pirate Nations or Waves of Blood.
Any Blade Will Do: A pirate can’t always guarantee he’ll have the right weapon at hand, so you’ve learned to make do with what you have. When using a Swordsman School you can substitute any weapon of the same type (Fencing, Heavy Weapon, etc.) and still use the School’s techniques. Thus, you could fight in the Aldana style using a cutlass or a sabre instead of a rapier, but not a broadsword.
Scurvy Dog!: You receive a Free Raise when using the Kick Knack to attack an opponent who is one Level lower than you, or a prone opponent on the same Level.
Sideswipe: You have learned to take any opening—no matter how small. When armed with a melee weapon, any time you make an Active Defense and use your Sidestep Knack to lower one of your Action Dice, you may strike a glancing blow to the side of the opponent whose attack you evaded. This attack succeeds automatically, and inflicts a number of Flesh Wounds equal to your Rank in the Sidestep Knack. The opponent makes a Wound Check as usual.
Sucker Punch: While armed with a melee weapon or a firearm in one hand, you may attack using the Attack (Dirty Fighting) Knack with your off hand without penalty. You receive a Free Raise on such an attack.
Watch the Boom!: By spending an Action and telling some bald-faced lie, you may attempt to distract your opponent. Make a Contested Roll of your Panache + Sincerity vs. an opponent’s Wits. If successful, the opponent’s next Action Die is increased by 1, plus 1 for every Raise you took on your roll. If this increases the Action Die above 10, it is discarded.
